CentreStage Dance and Drama holds Drama classes on Saturday mornings. Children who only want to develop their drama skills are very welcome to join our sessions.
The Junior class develop listening, observation and improvisation skills through games and exercises. They learn to act and react with others in the class and to work as a team as well as develop independent thinking. They are taught to be sincere and believable in everything they tackle. When they are confident in these skills, they may work on a script aimed at their level of understanding.
The Senior group develop the skills they have learnt in the Junior class with the addition of tackling more difficult scripts, working outside their comfort zone and building on relationships with their peers.
The drama teacher aims to build on the student’s acting skills and confidence with a sensitive and caring approach in a disciplined environment. One of the main aims of the drama department is to give the children the necessary skills for their development in their future lives.
Drama is an integral part of any major production at CentreStage. The students can also perform in small studio shows.
