Centre Stage Dance and Drama at the OXSHOTT VILLAGE DAYCentre Stage had a stand at the Oxshott Village Day on May 3rd: We were promoting the School, its Dance and Drama classes and shows, and demonstrated our value to the local community by performing several dances as one of the major attractions at the event.
It was a bitterly cold and windy morning, but we braved the arctic conditions, and entertained a stalwart crowd to Ballet, Character, Street Jazz and Modern dances. There were rapturous smiles all round – and great plaudits and congratulations must go to all the performers, who kept themselves warm enough to perform, and kept the public entertained! This was the third time CSDD has performed at the event – and I’m sure won’t be the last. Keep the date in your diary for next year in the first week of May! Each year our audience gets bigger – and our shelter keeps pace with it. This year we shared with a face painter, and enjoyed the company of two Shetland ponies: see the photos from the Leatherhead Advertiser. Congratulations to everyone who participated and came to watch – a fun time was had by all! |

Honk the MusicalLast November Centre Stage performed "Honk the Musical" at the Leatherhead Theatre. It is based on "Hans Christian Anderson’s "The Ugly Duckling." This is a hear rendering musical and perfect for the age group of our children. We are fortunate to have so many multi talented students in the school who can perform classical ballet, modern, tap, street jazz and well being able to sing and act. Indeed, every one of our pupils approached their work with sensitivity, dedication and professionalism. An agent came to see the show and was so impressed by the children that he has taken Centre Stage under his umbrella. We are in the early stages of developing this side of the school, but we hope to have the agency up and running in the next few weeks. |
