Drama

Centre Stage Dance and Drama holds drama classes on Saturday mornings. Even though many of our drama students also attend different forms of dance, this is not compulsory and children who only want to develop their drama skills are very welcome to attend our sessions.

The Junior class develop listening, observation and improvisation skills through games and exercises. They learn to act and react with others in the class and to work as a team as well as develop independent thinking. They are taught to be sincere and believable in everything they tackle and not to fit into stereotype characters and situations. When they are confident enough in these skills, they may work on a script aimed at their level of understanding.

The Senior group go on to develop the skills they have learnt in the Junior class with the addition of tackling more difficult scripts, working outside their comfort zone and building on relationships with their peers.

The drama teacher aims to build on the student's acting skills and confidence with a sensitive and caring approach in a disciplined environment. One of the main aims of the drama department is to give the children the necessary skills for their development in their future lives.

The drama students are an integral part of any major productions at Centre Stage and also perform in small studio shows.
